Description
Natural Wine Carnix 2023
Drinkers of Carnix from Domaine La Taupe, made by Bertjan Mol, often describe this natural wine as an earthy, spicy wine with fine tannins. It blends 70% Cabernet Franc with 30% Cabernet sauvignon, which adds a distinctive peppery kick and lively acidity. Many natural wine enthusiasts appreciate its unfiltered and unsulfured natural character, which enhances its purity and rustic charm. Some also note its freshness, balanced by the complex layers of fruit and subtle herbaceous notes, making it a favorite among fans of biodynamic and low-intervention wines.
The 2023 Carnix was made with our vertical Bourgogne press. Whole bunch fermentation in stainless steal tanks. Bottled and capsulated in July 2024. The wine is certified organic (Ecocert) and biodynamic (Demeter).
The natural wine Carnix 2023 is earthy and dark in nature, yet surprisingly light and easy to drink, thanks to its modest 11.5% alcohol content. This natural wine embodies the essence of an autumn wine, with a rich depth of flavors that complement cooler weather and heartier dishes. The wine’s structure is balanced, with fine tannins and a touch of spiciness, making it both robust and refreshingly smooth. Its lower alcohol level ensures it’s approachable, offering warmth and complexity without overwhelming the palate, making it ideal for cozy autumn evenings.
In the same year we made the beautiful natural wine Allez Hop. The Allez Hop 2023 is a juicy and vibrant Cabernet Franc, offering a delicious balance of ripe, dark fruit with a touch of earthiness. Compared to the Carnix, it’s notably juicier and more approachable, with soft, powdery tannins that add texture without overpowering. The wine delivers a refreshing, mouthwatering experience, perfect for those who enjoy a natural wine with both depth and liveliness. Read more on Allen Hop here.
